As CFO and Vice President for one of eBay’s fastest growing business units, Alex is responsible for finance, operations, strategy and business development for the eBay Classifieds Group. more >>

Prior to his role as CFO for eBay Classifieds Group, Alex held several finance roles within eBay. Most recently he was the Senior Director of EU Finance for Expansion & Adjacencies, providing financial support for Merchant Development expansion and the Advertising team. Alex also held full CFO responsibilities for eBay’s off-platform businesses in Turkey and Sweden, in addition to providing finance support for M&A Integrations across eBay EU Marketplaces. Before his role as a Senior Director, Alex was the EU Director of Finance, supporting the Marketing, Operations and Advertising teams in addition to Enterprise Sales, Tradera & the eBay International expansion team. Prior to being a Finance Director for eBay EU, Alex was the EU Controller for eBay, heading risk and compliance for the region.

Before joining eBay in late 2007, Alex was the Group Controller for Skype, implementing SAP during that time, the company’s first in-house accounting system. He was also responsible for growing the accounting team from 6 to 16 people in order to service the rapidly growing company (revenue tripled 2005-2006).

In 2005 Alex took a break from Corporate work and spent 4 months in Costa Rica & Nicaragua as the Logistics Manager on a Raleigh International youth development charity expedition.

Alex began his career at accounting firm Coopers & Lybrand in London, where he qualified as an ACA in the audit department with a secondment to tax, followed by finance manager roles at ExxonMobil and Factiva (Dow Jones/Reuters) from 1996 - 2005.

Alex holds a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the Imperial College of Science & Technology and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
