Berlin/Dreilinden, 27 October 2009 – Effective 1 December 2009, Martin Tschopp will become the new Managing Director of mobile.international GmbH – the company behind Germany’s largest Internet vehicle market, mobile.de. In his former position, Tschopp was General Manager of the local classifieds portals of the eBay Classifieds Group in North America and the Asia-Pacific region. The Classifieds Group is the division of the international online market place, eBay – to which mobile.international GmbH also belongs – which is responsible for the development of the classifieds business. “In Martin Tschopp we have an outstanding manager with excellent industry know-how”, explained Jacob Aqraou, General Manager of the eBay Classifieds Group, who will head mobile.international GmbH until the new Managing Director takes on this role. “He will not only move the mobile.de brand forward but also push international growth.”
With immediate effect, the German business of the Internet vehicle market will be managed by Malte Krüger. Krüger, the former Managing Director of autoplenum.de, commented on his decision to join mobile.international GmbH as follows: “I am extremely pleased to be able to work for one of Germany’s most successful Internet companies and to have the opportunity to build on mobile.de’s market leadership at home.” In addition to ten years of experience in the online sector, the founder of autoplenum.de, who also held various positions at Autoscout24, will bring a wealth of knowledge on the automotive industry to the company.
Krüger’s new area of responsibility represents part of measures to restructure mobile.international GmbH. In future, the company will be based on three business pillars; Germany, Advertising and International. “The new organisational structure not only represents our core competences but also allows us to now focus more closely on our goals, including international growth”, explained Jacob Aqraou. In the future, the International division will be headed by Christian Henk who was previously responsible for the dealer business at mobile.de. Stefan J. Gaul shall continue to lead the Advertising division and, as the Managing Director of the eBay Advertising Group, is responsible for the advertising of mobile.de and the European market places. Krüger, Henk and Gaul will all report directly to Martin Tschopp.
