eBay France officially unveiled today its new ebay.fr website, which for the first time gives people different ways to buy and sell on-line on a single platform. French consumers can now shop on eBay.fr for Auctions, Fixed Price goods and Classified listings. eBay said that the launch builds on its tradition of being an e-commerce leader that innovates to meet customer needs.
In France, eBay has built success around its traditional Auction platform. However, Internet users are increasingly looking to shop using Fixed Price, Buy-It-Now offers or seeking more face-to-face local transactions in their local areas. With the launch of the new platform, eBay believes it will continue to build its position as the leading e-commerce site in France.
The new eBay.fr site itself brings together all buying channels for customers in one platform. The Classified site will be completely free of charge for buyers and sellers, and will focus on local offers. Combined, eBay.fr will grow into a better marketplace for user with an even great selection of products and services and value for money deals.
The new classifieds service will be accessible from the eBay.fr home page, which has been updated to improve ease of use for customers. Changes include enabling users to navigate more easily among items, formats, locations and between private and business of sellers.
In addition to the advantages for buyers, the new eBay.fr platform sees the introduction of important changes that will help eBay’s large French business sellers’ community. Professional sellers will benefit from a redesigned site and a new pricing structure more suited to the volume of their sales. In all, professional sellers will benefit from reduced insertion fees and increased visibility of items in search results.
Alexander Von Schirmeister, Managing Director of eBay France declared that “eBay is once again evolving to better meet the expectations of French internet users. By offering real e-commerce portal with all sales and purchase alternatives we are making eBay.fr THE portal of choice.”
He further added that with the new classifieds site, consumers will benefit from a free and simple offer that brings new dimension to the eBay experience. He said: “The new Classifieds element will encourage people to buy from local areas and bring buyers and sellers in direct contact, which we believe is something consumers want more and more.”
