I’ve had the opportunity to work in many different areas – strategy, business development, product management and now general management and operations. In terms of product management, I developed an intelligent onsite messaging “engine” that gives users helpful hints to improve their listing quality or find ways to get more replies to their ads. I’ve also been involved in almost all of the aspects of classifieds in the US – from the original launch strategy to actually managing the business today. It’s thrilling to have this much ownership.
My goal is to introduce eBay Classifieds to as many families in the United States as possible and, once they visit our site, make sure they keep coming back. And tell their friends!

I’ve had the opportunity to travel to places I’ve never been to before – China, Taiwan, Germany and Italy to name just a few. Riding in the underground tourist train that connects Shanghai’s downtown to the Pudong district was probably the most surreal tourist experience I’ve had. You need to ride it to understand what I’m talking about.
How small the world really is – although we work in over 20 different countries, it feels like a family.

A friend of mine, a developer at eBay Classifieds at the time, encouraged me to apply for the Program Manager position at eBay Classifieds.
While I already had a good opinion of eBay Classifieds based on my conversations with him, I was very thrilled about the opportunity once I met the team. It was the right blend of challenge, responsibility, and excitement, and I decided in no time that I wanted to be part of this high-energy, vibrant team.
During my first week, my manager casually remarked that things move at a very fast pace in classifieds, and he couldn't have been more correct.
I cannot think of a single week that didn't present a new challenge. We are constantly trying to do more and be faster and better. The drive and commitment is apparent in every product release and every initiative we undertake. I really enjoy working with very bright people who are passionate about their work.
An exciting initiative that I'm driving is the migration and setup of all our technology systems; from eBay data centers to new global classifieds data centers. This is a nine month long project with significant complexity and involves several different technology organizations dispersed globally. The challenge is to minimize costs and business disruptions, while making key technology, infrastructure, and setup improvements.
Having been here only nine months, I feel that I have a lot to learn about online classifieds, both technology and business. My immediate goals are to improve our program to best serve our businesses. I am constantly encouraged and supported to enhance the scope and quality of what we deliver as an organization through improvements in planning, communication, quality, predictability, among other factors.
My personal goals are to learn and grow professionally as we strive for these organizational goals.
My favorite benefit is the interactions with my local and extended teams. I've met very fascinating people, had interesting discussions and made some good friends.
This is a hard question--I would probably say individually, I find the personal investment in employees I've seen to be very unique and worthwhile.
While this has manifested itself in many ways, two of my favorites include a manager recommending, encouraging the reading of and discussing a management philosophy book focused on improving operational excellence; and the amount of caring I've seen managers demonstrate when it comes to motivating and fostering a team.
As part of eBay, I expected the classifieds team to have a "large corporation" culture. eBay Classifieds feels a lot more like a startup than I expected, which supports the fast-paced, nimble business priorities.

Coming from my own web solutions company I wanted to work in a place that would have a small team so I could learn a lot from the different parts of the business (as I was used to).
LoQUo was at that point at its beginnings as an entrepreneurial company, so I figured I was in the right moment to learn how to take a company through the tough process of becoming a more organized place. It has been a great journey so far.
First of all, because the team I work with every day is great, and then because the whole Classifieds business unit is a great place where people, learning and (of course) targets are the highest priorities.
Many, the most recent and also most exciting one, has been building eBay Anuncios, a new home grown platform for classifieds. This new platform was built from scratch in a little less than two months by my development team and myself... it was a lot of sleepless nights for the three of us, but in the end we were able to deliver a feature rich product with good stuff under the hood. One of the best projects of my whole career.
Primarily, bring innovation to the platform and team, in many ways: improved UEX, new functionality, new PD processes, new architectures, etc.
I get the best of both worlds: On the one side I get all the benefits of working on a small team where you have visibility to the whole business, and on the other side, you get the benefits of working for a big company where you have a lot of things to leverage and share.
Many, but actually the most amazing one was asking the community to help save a life and see how they reacted immediately to make a person's life a lot better. That day I realized what a community truly means: It has nothing to do with having a discussion board or community flagging, but it's all about the people in it and how they interact. You just try to make their stay nice on your site.
The team. It's a great group of people, totally focused and devoted to succeed at doing their job in the best way. This definitely exceeded my expectations of what a good working environment could be.

Since I knew classifieds I have been a very satisfied eBay Annunci user. eBay Annunci has helped me in finding a job, in selling things I wanted to get rid of and in buying very cool stuff.
I decided to apply for a job at eBay Annunci because up to now there is an overestimation of the ability of the internet in connecting the four corners of the world. eBay Annunci is the proof that the internet is an extremely valuable tool even if it is dedicated to connect members of smaller communities.
I’m also very interested in Web 2.0 and in all those sites that live on user generated content.
I thought that working at eBay Annunci could give me the chance to learn something about people. Since I study marketing I ask myself why people keep buying things they do not need. I thought that working for eBay Annunci could give me an answer.
Working at eBay Annunci helps me to develop two different types of intelligence: logical and human.
Reporting constantly triggers me in ameliorating my logical intelligence in terms of analytical capabilities, synthesis ability, critical sense, presentation skills.
But working at eBay Annunci also helps me in developing a kind of human intelligence. Because I come straight from University, I didn’t have any idea of how to behave in work contexts: how to manage all the different relationships with partners, suppliers, clients, colleagues, with my boss.
To sum up, I enjoy working at eBay Annunci because it stimulates many different areas of my brain.
I enjoyed a lot working in Madrid to build a new state of the art classifieds platform for Italy. It was exciting to see many different people coming from different cultural backgrounds, all carrying their value to the project.

I was surprised that after a couple of months of work at eBay Annunci, my colleagues trusted me and my analysis. When I say I’ll do something, I have the impression that my colleagues believe I’ll deliver a good job on time. Obtaining Trust has been a surprise first, and a true satisfaction later.
Difficult question because our team is very diverse.
Probably the most common trait is that we are pretty open minded and happy to meet different multi-cultural work styles.
