Why did you decide to work at [companyname]?:
The first interview I did was for a programming job and it was conducted at my favourite neighbourhood bar. I remember walking home thinking “wow, this is my type of company”.
Why do you like working at [companyname]?:
Three things: the amazing people I work with, the challenges I run into each and every day, and the feeling of ownership I get from working on a site that has helped so many people out over the past four years.
What cool projects have you worked on at [companyname]?:
I have worked on a really diverse mix of projects. My two favourite technical projects were building our spam and scam detection system and our automated marketing optimization application.
What are your goals at [companyname] - what are you working to achieve?:
I am constantly working to make the community of Kijiji users happy. My goal is to ensure that people that use Kijiji are successful in buying, selling, renting, finding a job and so on. Success stories make my day.
What is your favorite benefit about working at [companyname]?:
Every Friday the office has a lunch brought in. Having lunch with the team is a great way to end the work week. It’s even better when it’s followed by a few games of foosball.
What has been the most amazing experience you've had at [companyname] thus far?:
I have been at Kijiji a long time. In fact, I was the first full-time employee that was specifically hired for Kijiji. So to me, the most amazing experience is that in a few short years, I can now easily answer the most basic question “where do you work?” Saying “Kijiji” used to bring back a lot of blank faces; now it brings back smiles and stories.
What has been the biggest surprise about working at [companyname]?:
How much fun I have here. The cool projects, the amazing people, the passionate users… You know the old adage about never working a day in your life?
If you were to identify a common trait between you and your colleagues, what would it be?:
The ownership we all show towards the site. Kijiji is a labour of love by the entire the team, and I like to think it shows
